Applying and preparing
You request your naturalisation file from the Service for Naturalisations by mail or contact form, enclosing a copy of your valid identity document. If you meet the formal conditions, the service sends you the naturalisation form and all forms specific to your situation.
Depending on your personal situation, you must register for a knowledge test covering Swiss and Geneva history, geography, and institutions. The online tutorial "Getting to know Switzerland and Geneva" will help you prepare. The passing certificate is required to submit your complete file.
You register for the test by phone or contact form with the naturalisation service. Once you have gathered all required documents and certificates, you send your complete file by mail.
Interview and decision
After your application is received and after a preliminary review, you will be invited to an interview. This appointment allows the service to verify that you meet all conditions for ordinary naturalisation.
