Language requirements and citizen course
You must demonstrate sufficient German language skills to communicate with authorities and citizens. This is shown through a certificate at level B2 (oral) and A2 (written) of the Common European Framework of Reference, or higher.
Before being admitted to citizenship, you must attend a citizen course of at least 12 hours (20 lessons). You are exempted if you can prove you acquired this knowledge at school.
Facilitated naturalisation and citizenship release
For facilitated naturalisation, the federal government alone decides. Soleure and your commune have only the right to comment and lodge an objection.
On written request, you can be released from cantonal citizenship if you prove you hold another cantonal citizenship. Release also means losing your commune citizenship rights in Soleure. Release costs between 100 and 1,000 francs.
